چکیده
An accessory middle cerebral artery (AMCA) is a variation of the cranial vascular system. It usually originates from the anterior cerebral artery, particularly from its proximal part and supplies the orbitofrontal and prefrontal regions of the territory of the middle cerebral artery (MCA). It is reported in approximately 3% of dissections (Teal et al., 1973; Yasargil, 1984; Umansky et al., 1988; Tanriover et al., 2003). Whether an AMCA is a variant of Heubner’s recurrent artery has been debated (Takahashi et al., 1989). An associa-

Ruptured Distal Accessory Anterior Cerebral Artery Aneurysm: A case report and literature review.
Aneurysms of the distal anterior cerebral artery (dACA) are rare, consisting only 2-6% of all intracranial aneurysms. dACA aneurysms are often associated with anomalies such as azygous, bihemispheric and triplication of ACA. Among these anomalies accessory anterior cerebral artery (accACA) is an anatomical variant found in 3.3% to 15% of the population. Here we report a case of a 60-year-old fe...
متن کاملAneurysm at a duplication of the middle cerebral artery.
In an anatomic study of 374 autopsied brains, Crompton and Lond (1) found that in 3% (10 of 374 cases) there was an artery arising from the internal carotid artery between its terminal bifurcation and the origin of the anterior choroidal artery, which passed into the Sylvian fissure along with the ordinary middle cerebral artery. He termed this vessel an accessory middle cerebral artery. In add...
متن کاملAn unusual variant of the callosomarginal artery from the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery
BACKGROUND Although the anatomy of the A1 segment of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA) is highly variable, a callosomarginal artery (CMA) arising from the A1 segment of the ACA is rare. CASE DESCRIPTION A 27-year-old man presented with severe headache and was admitted to our hospital. Initial computed tomography (CT) showed subarachnoid hemorrhage in the basal cistern. Three-dimensional CT a...
متن کاملArteriovenous Malformation with an Occlusive Feeding Artery Coexisting with Unilateral Moyamoya Disease
BACKGROUND Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) with vascular abnormalities, including aneurysms, have been reported frequently. However, the coexistence of AVM and unilateral moyamoya disease is rare. We report herein an AVM patient who presented with acute ischemic stroke with unilateral moyamoya disease and occlusion of the feeding artery. CASE REPORT A-41-year old man was admitted with sudd...
متن کاملAccessory middle cerebral artery: is it a variant form of the recurrent artery of Heubner?
Fourteen accessory middle cerebral arteries demonstrated on angiography were reviewed relative to the pertinent literature. The anomalous vessel follows a fairly constant pattern in terms of origin, course, and distribution, and it frequently gives rise to basal perforating arteries. It is suggested that the vessel represents a persistent anastomosis between the anterior and middle cerebral art...
